Balloon Boy: Just Another Hoax?

Balloon Boy, Falcon Heene, is safe after hours of worrying the entire world after everyone was led to believe that he was aboard a helium UFO-shaped balloon in Colorado. He was, as I suspected early on, hiding out in the attic above the garage. I suspected while watching the movement of the balloon that a 60 lb child could not possible be inside. I thought he was either hiding out in the house or wandering around the neighborhood (in a tree or someone's yard.)

As you can see in the Wolf Blitzer CNN video, Falcon said he thought he was doing this "for the show." His father plays stupid and tries dodging Blitzer's question as to what Falcon meant by that. Watch.

Although the police say that this is probably not a hoax, I am a little more skeptical. The Heene family were on Wife Swap and Mr. Heene was a CNN Ireporter. Clearly, they love the limelight. My guess is that this whole thing was set up to put the Heene family in the spotlight once more so some fools over at TLC or some other network would offer them a TV show. They think: Hey, the Gosslins (sp?) had a TV show, so why can't we?

And check out this video from the next morning. A lot of sniffling but no real tears. Dad is stumbling again. I sense lies. I'd love to have a body language expert check these two out.
This family is a little strange. Strange is fine. My family is a little strange I'm sure. But who lets their boys do this? Their parents directed/wrote/choreographed this original music video called PUSSIFIED, I kid you not. Isn't this child abuse?:

Don't be shocked if they end up with a show on TLC, guests on Oprah, or a book. Anything for attention right? --edit--- I just found out that the Heene family pitched a show to TLC, but they turned them down. GOOD! Seriously, people think they do something crazy like this and they can get their own reality tv show!

----UPDATE----
I am even MORE skeptical of this being a genuine emergency after what I learned on Anderson Cooper 360: Mr. Heene (father) called the FAA and the local TV station before his wife called 911. (See their priorities?)

---UPDATE 2-----
Authorities said Friday that they planned to reinterview the family as speculation mounted that the incident was staged.
"We feel it's incumbent on us as an agency to attempt to reinterview them and establish whether this is in fact a hoax or actual event," Larimer County Sheriff James Alderden said Friday.
"We believe at this time that it's a real event."
The sheriff's office said it was conducting background checks on the Heenes.
Alderden told CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Friday that -- based on reports that the parents "took these children into potentially dangerous situations" with tornado chases, the experimental balloons and other activities -- it would be "appropriate to involve child protection [services] to at least see what the family situation is and whether the children are in a safe condition."
Earlier, Alderden said his department has contacted child protection officials but asked them not to contact the family until investigators have had a chance to re-interview them. {source}

Good. I think the parents need to take a few parenting classes to say the very least.

  1. Seriously that whole debacle was disgusting. This is how we've been reduced to the lowest common denominator of intelligence. The father is quite OBVIOUSLY on something-drugs/alcohol, but every single warning light goes off with him. They all seem a bit troubled to say the least and those poor kids don't have an adult amongst their parents. I hope it gets investigated to the extreme, the family gets blacklisted from any reality show, and I swear if they get a show--I'm done with America. It's the end of civilization. And that's the cleaned up version of what I think. Thanks for bringing up the subject. It was definitely worth noting the difference between fantasy and reality--a really important line for someone who hunts ghosts. :-)

  2. I agree. I HATE when people get reality shows for doing stupid things...or for nothing at all (being heiresses and things like that.)

Last I heard the police went from "Oh, this this was real emergency" to "We're going to let them rest for a day (because Falcon is ill) and then we will re-investigate this."

    The dad is SO unbelievable.
